Staying in Tana with our gracious hostest and host

I am so grateful for Dee & Brian's extension of warm generous hospitality... they opened their home and made me (and of course Liz) feel so welcomed.

In between excursions  i got to experience a Halloween trick or treating, a Halloween party, a local birthday party, Brian playing in a band,a taking Dee's awesome yoga class (I participated and forgot to grab a photo!).

We got to hang out with a wonderful community mixed with foreigners, locals, NGOs, Peace Corp staff and volunteers, American School. we visited  Peace Corps offices and so much more. What a rich experience!  We packed a lot in in 10 days! Below is a few more of photos to give a sense of the surroundings and happenings in Tana. The first night we saw an overlook of the city Antananarivo from a restaurant Lakonga

We also ventured to the local art gallery Hay Kanto, run by Brian(Dee's husband), friend Laura,  and team of dedicated volunteers and artists. Hay Kanto is a for-purpose organization in Madagascar that provides art classes to Malagasy children living in poverty. They are doing wonderful work.  See local Malagasy artist and their work and visit their website www.haykanto.org
this is not my photo, it is from Hay Kanto website.
We also had the honor to attend the 239th Marine Birthday Ball. Staying with a diplomat had its privileges :)
